Responsibilities
Independently manage collaborative and interdisciplinary engagement between faculty, staff, and partners across the five Centers at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and represent the program to outside organizations
Oversee all administrative operations, finance, human resources, and facilities for the program
Design and develop major program components and administer the full range of the program's operational requirements, including working with faculty on formulating short-term planning and procedures, evaluating the program’s effectiveness, and recommending changes as necessary
Identify and pursue funding opportunities and revenue streams, and participate in budgeting and accounting processes to support the financial infrastructure of the program
Develop and maintain a robust communication infrastructure for the collaborating partners, develop and organize conferences, workshops, and other public forums, and serve on committees representing the program as needed
Qualification
Required
Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
Thorough knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices
Strong oral and written communication skills. With emphasis on working with students, staff, and faculty from diverse racial, cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
Strong ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results
Strong ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers
Solid fundraising experience
Proven experience with successful event planning and organization of special events and training programs
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of a collaborative team
Experience with project management and demonstrated experience working on projects from conceptualization to completion
Strong originality and creativity to anticipate and plan for new or changing workloads
Demonstrated experience in and proven ability to function with a very high degree of accuracy at a coordinator level
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to properly assess crisis situations involving students, staff, and/or academics and provide appropriate referrals and support
Thorough knowledge of applying adult learning theories and education methodologies
Experience with complex and confidential calendaring, public relations, development, special projects, and community relations in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Terminal degree in a related field preferred (PhD, JD, MD, etc.)
Academic background and experience in selected area of research preferred
