Responsibilities

Serves as the first point of contact for customers seeking Dorchester County, state road maintenance assistance and responsible for welcoming visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone
Screens, directs and refers incoming telephone calls
Assists with transit radio communication
Conducts intake of customer work requests, reviews the submitted information for accuracy and determines if additional items are needed
Accurately keys data received into the agencies utilized systems or programs and scans related documents for electronic forwarding/filing purposes
Updates work requests as needed
Serves as a procurement cardholder
Orders and maintains office supplies, maintenance crew supplies, and road maintenance supplies as directed and adhering to all state procurement cardholder guidelines
Serves as backup to the Administrative Assistant and Supply Specialist III in obtaining quotes from vendors, researching state contracts, creating shopping carts, purchase orders and goods receipts adhering to all state procurement policies and procedures to procure supplies and services for the operational functions of Dorchester Maintenance
Operates and maintains office equipment
Assists with maintaining an accurate electronic filing system
Assists with records retention and file room organization
Assists in time administrator duties in the absence of the Administrative Assistant
Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations in a state maintenance office
May include being available for extended hours or 12-hour shifts
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required

A high school diploma; or an approved acceptable equivalence
A motor vehicle operator's license is required
The physical demands for the essential functions of this position include sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods and working on a computer

May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies
