Responsibilities
Design complex components & assemblies with customer in mind focusing on Quality, Cost and DFM
Utilize critical thinking for continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for innovation and process enhancements including but not limited to using automation and AI tools
Fabricate physical prototypes for proof of concept and testing
Mechanical and structural analysis as needed (FEA using SolidWorks)
Present mechanical design concepts to project teams
Evaluate new components, materials, and manufacturing methods for application in new and existing products
Verify acceptance criteria is met, support transition to production, and perform failure analysis on problem areas
Document features, issues, and tests in compliance with our internal processes
Be able to derive configured product models from the existing products
Able to perform Engineering Change Requests that involve updating drawings and BOMs
Ensure designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements
Conduct design reviews, assist in FMEA, PFMEA and supporting root cause analysis for mechanical issues
Qualification
Required
Must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
5-7 years or more experience as a design Engineer
Extensive experience developing 3D CAD designs for parts and test fixtures using Creo, SolidWorks, or similar design platforms
Good grasp on Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing standards and best practices
Ability to operate machine tools to touch up prototype parts, adding details, threading, polishing, and other operations to finish parts before building and testing
Experience in designs consisting of electro-mechanical and optical integration
Experience with DFM and processes such as injection molding, machining, sheet metal forming and aluminum casting
Familiarity with JIRA, and AI tools are desirable
Preferred
Master's degree is a plus
