Service Technician - Lead

Burckhardt Compression US is currently hiring for Service Technician Lead at our New Iberia, LA operation. The Field Service Technician LEAD is responsible for field service and maintenance of gas engine compressor packages and associate equipment while leading and training less-experienced technicians.

Responsibilities

Must be able to perform work offshore on platforms and onshore as required per job
Provide leadership, training, and supervise a team of Service Technicians – execute responsibilities in accordance with company policies
Assign and manage field work force, handle performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, issue resolution, and other HR functions as required
Provide preventative and corrective field mechanical service on gas compression, process, and/or production equipment on site at client locations
Must be able to complete troubleshooting and repairing equipment, packages, and systems; be able to provide guidance and coordinate jobs in progress
Able to complete minor and major overhauls and revamps
Must communicate with customers about project updates and other information as needed
Must have strong mechanical abilities to set level and align prime mover to driven equipment using dial indicators and/or laser alignment tools
Identifies and addresses equipment, package, and plant inefficiencies/issues
Takes initiative and fulfills duties consistent with company standards, policies, and controllable expense budget
Provides input to Supervisor on personnel and materials needs to provide optimal job planning
Assist in equipment Start-up/Commissioning – broad understanding of procedures and requirements
Knowledgeable of Purging and loading practices/procedures; must be able to train as needed
Complete full Daily Service Reports by providing full description of actions performed and completed on each service call. Monitor additional workflows for accuracy
May temporarily move from Field to Shop for work as needed based off workloads and other location requirements

Required

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); Vocational School or Associated Degree preferred
Minimum 7+ years' experience in the field or certificate of completion from acceptable trade school or military training and experience in related field
Valid Drivers License
Read, write, speak and understand basic English
Must be able to perform work offshore on platforms and onshore as required per job

Currently comply with and/or be able to successfully complete Health Safety training
Must be able to provide his/her own small hand tools as directed by Operations Management
Ability to perform the physical labor necessary
Must be able to work overtime and be available for after-hour call outs as necessary
Frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with the use of proper lifting techniques and procedures
Stand, walk, climb, perform overhead work with fall protection, use hands to feel, handle or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms, sit, talk and hear
Ability to kneel, balance, push, pull, drive, stoop, climb, and crouch
When applicable: must be able to conform to customer-required physical and medical standards
When applicable: must be able to wear SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus), APR (air purifying respirator), and particle masks as needed when working in hazardous environments
