Senior VDW Engineer

Scalence L.L.C. is seeking a Senior VDW Engineer to provide operational support for Windows Server and Windows Desktop systems within the EUC environment. The role involves deploying and maintaining virtual desktop images, managing certificate lifecycles, and leading technical projects while acting as a Subject Matter Expert in virtualization technologies.

Responsibilities

Provide operational support for Windows Server and Windows Desktop systems within the EUC environment
Deploy, maintain, and secure virtual desktop images in the Omnissa / Client VDI environment
Develop and maintain automation using scripting and APIs
Support UCO / Aria Automation platforms
Manage certificate lifecycle for systems and applications
Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Omnissa / Client and related virtualization technologies
Manage centralized storage and maintenance of user preferences and data
Administer Omnissa / Client App Volumes, including managers, databases, AppStacks, and writable volumes
Independently handle assigned tasks with minimal supervision or collaborate within a team as needed
Create and deliver time-sensitive technical deliverables
Lead and participate in technical projects, including planning, execution, and task management
Prepare and present technical materials for customers and management
Lead technical discussions and meetings related to assigned projects or tasks
Respond to and resolve incidents through ServiceNow
Troubleshoot and resolve advanced technical issues within the EUC environment
Diagnose and repair system problems in collaboration with vendor support
Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot EUC system performance
Implement solutions for complex availability and performance issues
Maintain and improve the security posture of Windows systems and infrastructure
Develop and maintain IT documentation
Provide training and mentorship to less experienced team members
Perform system-level configuration changes, including registry edits

Required

Windows system administration (Windows Server & Windows Desktop)
EUC (End User Computing) environment support
Omnissa / Client virtualization expertise, including: Horizon View, App Volumes, User Environment Manager, Workspace ONE, ThinApp, vRealize Operations for Horizon
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) image deployment and maintenance
Automation and scripting using one or more of: PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform, APIs
UCO / Aria Automation support
Certificate lifecycle management
AppVolumes management (managers, databases, AppStacks, writable volumes)
User profile, preference, and data management
Incident response and ticket handling (ServiceNow)
Advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution
Performance monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting of EUC systems
Vendor coordination for hardware/software issue resolution
Active Directory administration
DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management
Windows OS expertise: Windows 10, Windows Server 2012 / 2012 R2
Microsoft SQL Server knowledge: SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, or 2014
Scripting proficiency (demonstrable experience)
Basic data center networking knowledge: TCP/IP, routing/switching, ports & protocols, firewalls, load balancing
Basic storage protocol knowledge: NFS, SMB, S3, FC, iSCSI, NVMe
Windows OS and infrastructure security hardening
Registry editing
IT documentation development and maintenance
Independent problem-solving for complex availability/performance issues
Project leadership and task management
Training and mentoring junior team members
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Experience working under time-sensitive deliverables

Preferred

A current Omnissa / Client Certification (preferably a VCP6-DTM or VCP7-DTM or VCAP6-DTM or VCAP7-DTM)
Strong background in Desktop Virtualization: Omnissa / Client vSphere, Omnissa / Client Horizon, Citrix; Client RDS
Dell Wyse Configuration Manager experience and knowledge
Experience working in a large enterprise environment
Knowledge of storage area networks to include network operating systems, SAN protocols, SAN management, and SAN physical configuration
Knowledge of MSI and Windows Installer technologies for creating ThinApps and App Stacks
Knowledge of cloud-based virtualization offerings and management
Knowledge and experience in migrating from on-prem virtualization platforms to cloud based offerings
