Responsibilities
Assemble test rigs based on layout drawings and setup instructions, including mechanical assembly using hand tools and battery/air impact wrenches
Utilize overhead cranes, connect hydraulic plumbing, and electrical control cables
Perform tasks that require bending, kneeling, and working at floor level, and must be able to lift 25 lbs
Document any changes to the setup procedure and layout drawings for continuous improvement
Monitor and adjust test controls as necessary to maintain efficient test operations
Inspect test specimens and make repairs as required by the defined test parameters
Document all test-related incidents and activities using a web-based application
Contact appropriate personnel to address safety, environmental issues, and equipment or specimen failures, and perform emergency shutoff procedures if necessary
Perform routine lab maintenance and cleaning, including mopping, vacuuming, organizing, and putting away tools/equipment in the lab
Pick up parts and perform various other errands as needed
Qualification
Required
Experience as an automotive or electrical technician
Familiarity with tools and machinery
Ability to perform tasks that require bending, kneeling, and working at floor level
Must be able to lift 25 lbs
Preferred
Experience working on machinery, including teardown and repair, with a mechanic/mechanical background
Knowledge of Windows file/folder structure and the ability to copy, move, and rename files
Proficient computer skills with office software
Ability to read dimensioned part drawings and test layout drawings
Capability to work independently
Experience with servo-hydraulic or hydraulic systems is preferred but not necessary
