Vice President

Responsibilities

Own the application engineering of geothermal HVAC systems across commercial and institutional building types
Define system architectures, sizing methodologies, and design rules for: ground heat exchangers, heat pump systems and hydronic integration, distribution systems and controls interfaces
Develop standardized application guidelines, design templates, and reference architectures
Ensure systems are compliant with applicable ASHRAE standards, local mechanical and energy codes, utility and incentive program requirements
Support third-party testing, certifications, and incentive qualification as needed
Support feasibility analysis, load modeling, and system optimization for customers
Assess the quantitative business benefit for each use case, including energy consumption, water consumption, and carbon reduction impacts
Serve as the internal authority on system-level performance and deployment risk
Help define 'where the product wins' and 'where it doesn’t—yet.'
Support pre-sales engineering efforts for customer proposals
Provide technical credibility in customer, partner, and investor conversations
Develop application collateral (system diagrams, performance narratives, FAQs)
Serve as the technical lead for pilot and first-commercial installations
Work closely with Operations to ensure correct execution
Diagnose and resolve field performance issues during commissioning and early operation
Translate real-world installation and performance learnings into product requirements
Partner with Product Development team to improve: design optimization, efficient system performance, cost structures, reliability and serviceability
Influence hardware, controls, and software roadmaps based on application realities

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred)
Professional Engineer license
8–15+ years of experience in HVAC system design, application engineering, or building energy systems
Deep knowledge of: HVAC thermodynamics and heat transfer; hydronic systems; ground-source / geothermal heat pump systems (or adjacent heat pump technologies)
Experience supporting real-world installations
Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred

Experience with early-stage or first-of-kind technologies
Familiarity with building energy modeling tools (e.g., EnergyPlus, TRACE, IES)
Experience working with: mechanical consulting engineers, design-build contractors, utility or incentive programs
Background in system commissioning or field troubleshooting
Comfort operating in ambiguity and building processes from scratch
