The Unit Secretary supports the assigned unit by facilitating communication with patients, staff, physicians, visitors, and ancillary departments, while also maintaining patient charts and ensuring a safe environment.

Responsibilities

Carries out routine patient care duties & related activities under the direct supervision of a RN
Facilitates communication with patients, staff, physicians, visitors and ancillary departments
Directs incoming calls and responds to patient calls
Enters physician’s orders in the Information System
Maintains patient’s charts, unit files and secretarial supply levels
Responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment

Qualification

BLS certificationHospital experienceClinical experienceCompassionate careCommunication skills

Required

BLS, thru American Heart Association, required at time of hire
Must be a high school graduate or have GED equivalent

Preferred

Hospital or Clinical experience preferred
