Shipping Department Supervisor

The Shipping Department Supervisor is responsible for the efficient operation and organization of the shipping department, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products while supervising and training shipping personnel.

Responsibilities

Ensure all outgoing shipments meet quality and documentation standards
Maintain compliance with company safety policies and DOT regulations
Organize daily shipping schedules and prioritize urgent orders
Communicate effectively with customer service and production teams regarding shipping timelines
Maintain accurate shipping records and documentation
Supervise and train shipping personnel on proper packaging, labeling, and handling procedures
Monitor inventory levels for shipping supplies and reorder as needed
Resolve shipping discrepancies and coordinate with carriers for timely delivery
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and improve efficiency
Perform other duties as assigned
Gives adequate direction, counsels employees on performance issues/concerns, provides assistance and/or training where appropriate
Initiates disciplinary actions where necessary according to established procedures
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

High school diploma or GED required
Minimum 3 years in shipping or logistics, with supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality standards, and safety regulations (including OSHA compliance)
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing production needs
Proficient in using production management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure
This position requires access to EAR or ITAR controlled technologies. Applicants are required to be eligible for employment under U.S. export control laws

Preferred

Minimum 3 years in shipping or logistics, with supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred
