Responsibilities
Perform advanced drafting and design functions using AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE) and Substation Design Suite (SDS) to create and modify substation design deliverables
Develop project deliverables based on a variety of engineering and design inputs
Perform basic to intermediate design calculations, including detailed material quantities and estimates
Assist with preparation of final project documentation, including as-built drawings and record sets
Apply knowledge of engineering standards, document control procedures, departmental guides, applicable codes, and company policies
Review design inputs and deliverables to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable codes and project requirements
Proactively apply the company Quality Program to all assigned deliverables
Support continuous improvement initiatives and change management efforts
Coordinate deliverables with internal disciplines and project teams to minimize errors, conflicts, and rework
Support field activities as needed
Assist with project closeout activities, including consolidation of records and documentation
Support internal project stakeholders while developing an understanding of external client objectives, priorities, and drivers
Stay current on applicable design technologies, tools, and processes
Share technical knowledge and best practices with team members
Apply judgment in interpreting design inputs and making decisions related to deliverables
May provide technical guidance, mentoring, and work direction to other engineering technicians and professionals
Qualification
Required
3–5 years of experience using AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE) in the substation industry
Candidates with AutoCAD Electrical experience must have substation industry experience to be considered
Candidates with AutoCAD Electrical experience without substation industry experience will not be considered
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on drafting and design tasks
Strong understanding of engineering standards, document control, and quality procedures
Preferred
Experience with Substation Design Suite (SDS) is strongly preferred
Diploma or Certificate in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline preferred
Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design–related Technology preferred
