Lead Firmware Engineer
Stealth Startup is rethinking the human-computer interface through AI-powered wearables. As a Lead Firmware Engineer, you'll be the technical architect behind the next-generation platform, focusing on building infrastructure for seamless, real-time conversations between humans and AI.

Responsibilities
Own the firmware stack across Embedded Linux, AOSP, and RTOS platforms: from board bring-up and bootloaders to HAL and system integration
Develop and maintain low-level software including device drivers, hardware interfaces, and performance-critical services
Optimize for power, performance, and reliability, especially in resource-constrained or battery-powered environments
Integrate wireless and multimedia subsystems, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and real-time audio/video pipelines
Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure smooth end-to-end product integration
Support production and field operations with diagnostics, OTA updates, and instrumentation for telemetry and performance monitoring
Contribute to testing and quality infrastructure by developing automated validation tools, hardware test fixtures, and continuous integration pipelines
Document and evolve best practices, maintaining technical clarity and reusability across firmware modules
Qualification
Required
Embedded Systems: experience developing firmware and low-level software for Embedded Linux, Android Open Source Project (AOSP), and RTOS platforms. Comfortable with boot configuration, board bring-up, and hardware integration
Android & HAL Development: solid understanding of Android HAL, system services, and middleware, enabling robust integration of custom hardware features
Low-Level Programming: ability to design and implement device drivers, device trees, and HAL layers with strong focus on power management, thermal control, and system performance optimization
Multimedia & Real-Time Systems: familiarity with audio/video pipeline design and real-time data processing, including low-latency capture, buffering, and playback
Wireless Connectivity: experience with Bluetooth (BT, BTLE) and Wi-Fi stacks, debugging tools, and throughput/power trade-off optimization
Programming Languages: C, Rust, Kotlin
Product Lifecycle & Tooling: proven ability to deliver production firmware at scale, managing secure signing, instrumentation, OTA updates, and diagnostic tooling throughout the SDLC
Testing & Validation: experience building test frameworks, hardware fixtures, and automation setups for regression, performance, and hardware-in-the-loop testing
Preferred
background in wearables or low-power connected devices, with emphasis on battery optimization and network efficiency
