Yard Process Planner Specialist

Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate daily vehicle movements within the yard to support production output, carrier pickups, and shipping schedules
Create and maintain vehicle parking strategies based on inventory levels, carrier assignments, and loading priorities
Monitor yard capacity and optimize space utilization to avoid congestion or vehicle bottlenecks
Ensure First-In-First-Out (FIFO) or other dispatch sequencing rules are followed as per customer/OEM requirements
Analyze yard operations to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies; implement continuous improvement strategies
Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to yard activities
Monitor KPIs such as vehicle dwell time, space utilization, and outbound accuracy to drive performance improvements

Required

Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field preferred to appropriate work experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience and strong understanding of yard logistics, vehicle movement processes, vehicle transportation and inventory management, or a related role, preferably within an automotive, manufacturing or production environment
Proficiency in Yard Management Systems, Inventory Management and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Familiarity with rail and truck loading/unloading operations
Experience working with third-party logistics providers (3PLs/LSPs) in a collaborative environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of managing multiple priorities under time constraints
Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement
Effective communicator with the ability to coordinate across departments (Quality, Production, Engineering)
High attention to detail with the ability to analyze inventory discrepancies and resolve operational issues quickly
Minimum of High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required for all roles at Scout Motors, Inc

Preferred

Relevant certifications (e.g., APICS, Six Sigma or PMP) are a plus
