Software Computer Safety Engineer
APT Research, Inc. is an employee-owned engineering services company specializing in safety and quality analyses for the U.S. Government. They are seeking a Software/Computer Safety Engineer to provide guidance and technical support for Computer Based Control System requirements and safety review panel presentations, ensuring overall software safety and assurance activities for commercial spaceflight projects.

Responsibilities
Supports programs for all life-cycle phases (requirements development, design, etc.) and Milestone events (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.)
Perform/review software safety analyses and assessments
Evaluate software requirements, design, architecture, and product assurance for compliance with program requirements
Assessing software development, testing, verification, process documentation, and change products to identify issues and non-compliances
Support customer meetings, presentations, and action/tracking closure
Interfaces/coordinates with the customer daily
Support system hazard analyses/software safety analyses
Integrate and coordinate with internal S&MA disciplines and engineering/management
Prepare CBCS artifacts (e.g., compliance matrix) and present to Computer Safety Panel/Safety Review Panel
Qualification
Required
Education: BA/BS or equivalent years of experience
Experience: Minimum of 15 years of related experience
Possess background in spaceflight systems safety and software safety engineering
Extensive knowledge of S&MA requirements development, verification, and validation (V&V), and closure
Extensive knowledge of NASA standards such as NPR 7150.2, NASA-STD-8739.8A, SSP 50038
Experience with NASA Safety Review Panel (SRP)
Experience with NASA Computer Safety Panel (CSP) as panel member or presenter
Extensive knowledge of the Human Rating Certification requirements and process
Knowledge/experience in evaluation software for hazard causes
Knowledge/experience in identifying must work (MW) and must not work (MNW) functions
Background in aerospace industry or military experience
Certification of Flight Readiness (CoFR) experience
Experience in development, assurance, and certification of complex, critical computerized control systems
Cyber Security Assessment experience is a plus
Must be able to receive secret clearance if needed
Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate, and timely communication, both verbally and written
Ability to interact professionally with coworkers, management, and customers
Requires ability to travel within/outside of US occasionally
Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a workstation / desk
Ability to climb stairs
Ability to lift >15 lbs
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgement
