Phenomenology Execution Team Lead

Astrion is seeking a Phenomenology Execution Team Lead to guide a team focused on advanced models and simulations in support of the Missile Defense Agency and US Navy. The role involves leading research and development efforts, coordinating technical tasks, and mentoring staff in a complex technical environment.

Responsibilities

Lead the execution team in research, design, and development of models and simulations of physical phenomena related to missile defense
Coordinate team technical efforts and track model requirements
Work with program managers and technical group lead to schedule staff for technical tasking
Work with technical group lead to coordinate strategic development efforts, integrate new technical capabilities, evaluate staff performance, and execute hiring plans
Work with software developers and managers to transition algorithms and tools to formal C++ products
Work with SEG leadership and other subject matter experts to develop phenomenology-related project road maps
Write technical memos and white papers that summarize research, threat capabilities, or other areas of interest or concern
Present technical work and provide technical expertise at conferences and meetings with customers, collaborators, and competitors
Mentor and provide tasking to staff
Provide timecard supervision

Required

Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a security clearance
Ph.D. and at least 5 years of experience in physics, mathematics, or engineering
Strong analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills
Mathematical background in areas such as statistics, linear algebra, differential equations, and numerical methods
Strong computational skills (C/C++, Fortran, MATLAB, Python, or equivalent)
Experience managing complex technical projects
Good written and verbal communication skills
Experience providing technical leadership and oversight to a team
Highly motivated. Possesses the ability to learn rapidly

Preferred

Radar, IR sensor, and missile defense experience preferred
