Responsibilities

Months 1-18 Commissioning Rotation: The Commissioning Group is responsible for the efficient and safe start-up of Veolia’s water treatment plants. This includes ensuring process equipment and control systems perform per specifications, performing specific PLC/HMI activities including Control System IO checkout, system networking, program upload/download, and providing technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives all while maintaining a strong safety mindset
Months 1-18 Pilot Rotation: The Pilot Group performs pilot studies on customer sites to test our water and wastewater treatment technologies’ performance on the customer’s water source. Pilot studies are performed using our fleet of pilot equipment mainly focused on membrane bioreactors, (MBR), ultrafiltration (UF) membranes, reverse osmosis (RO) membranes, and physical-chemical processes such as clarifiers and dissolved air floatation (DAF). The Pilot Project Manager coordinates all aspects of the study in collaboration with our customer and an internal team. The role combines aspects of project management, process engineering, and on-site field service. Pilot studies can include a wide variety of pilot-scale water treatment technologies. The Pilot Project Manager represents the company and builds relationships with customers that contribute to securing future business for full-scale projects
Months 19-36 Engineering/Leadership Rotations -
Develop project design documents, with engineering responsibility, depending on rotational position. Documents such as P&IDs, PFDs, Mass and Energy Balances, General Arrangement Drawings, Electrical Single Line Diagrams, Electrical Schematics, Control Narratives
Perform overall system calculations that support the overall flowsheet development. This includes process modeling, hydraulic profiles, detailed mechanical equipment sizing calculations, line sizing, power requirements etc. Expectation is that in each rotational stop, the WEP rotational engineer will develop an understanding of these requirements to ensure design quality, the budget requirements, and customer expectations
Develop the abilities of each function over the rotational period such that they are able to perform the engineering deliverables of the role, with limited supervision
Gain an understanding of our customer profiles and their needs and objectives. This includes the strategic positioning of our solutions, an understanding of market pricing and Veolia’s ability to be profitable within that market
Understand and build the capability to cost overall project segments and be able to support bid teams to develop competitive proposals that differentiate Veolia in the market
Where required, support the manufacturing of skidded solutions and/or Veolia products
As part of a team provide technical expertise to customers through technical submissions, meetings (both virtually and in person)
Actively participate in an assigned technical development cohort with peers new Veolia for the development of knowledge of Veolia products and design practices
Be accountable for the delivery of assigned work, and communicative of the achievement of deadlines or if support is needed
Be active in establishing individual development plans and work towards achieving milestones surrounding that development

Required

Understanding of multi-step processes, and their interdependences
Ability to read P&IDs and PFDs (including material balances), and where required electrical drawings
Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team and department projects
Comfortable with a fast-paced work environment
Strong technical writing and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with co-workers and customers
Ability to travel within North America (Canada, US, Mexico) and valid drivers license
Ability to perform light manual tasks on-site including lifting and using hand/power tools
Bachelor of Engineering or Science degree
Fluency in English (written and verbal) required

Preferred

Previous internship or other experience (prior to graduation) in the water/wastewater industry would be considered an asset
Fluency in French would be considered an asset
