Responsibilities
Gather information by reviewing existing policies, procedures, and technical documentation
Interview technical subject matter experts, stakeholders, and operating units
Examine system outputs and artifacts to assess control implementation
Develop and maintain foundational security documents, including:
System Security Plan (SSP)
Minimum Security Control Implementation (Common, Shared, Tailored)
Business Impact Analysis (BIA)
Information System Contingency Plan
Change Management Plan
Document security control status (implemented, partially implemented, not implemented)
Create and maintain Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M) for identified gaps
Collaborate with the Department CIO, OIS Information Security team, and OIS managers to document and monitor security controls
Qualification
Required
Extended Detection and Response (XDR)
Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems
Risk assessment and risk management
Technical security controls
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Bachelor's degree in a relevant Information Technology field
5+ years in information security, including leadership-level responsibilities
Hands-on experience with security assessments, architecture, and incident response
Preferred
Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure
Familiarity with NIST RMF or NIST Cybersecurity Framework
Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA
