ANALYST II
The California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) is dedicated to serving California veterans and their families. The Analyst II position involves evaluating and developing case files, as well as presenting and appealing claims for benefits administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs on behalf of veterans, their dependents, and survivors.

Responsibilities
Provides assistance on behalf of veterans, their dependents and survivors by evaluating and developing case files, presenting and appealing claims for benefits administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA)
Perform responsibilities and assignments in the following CDCR facilities: California Institute for Men (San Bernardino County), California Institute for Women (San Bernardino County), California Rehabilitation Center (Riverside County), and California State Prison Los Angeles (Los Angeles County)
Expected to report to the Los Angeles District Office for the first 3-6 months for training and accreditation
Upon completion of required training, the incumbent’s supervisor shall approve incumbent to telecommute primarily from state prisons and remote office location
Qualification
Required
Must attain and maintain USDVA accreditation in accordance with Title 38 of the U.S. Code and the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) within six months of employment
Must be able to independently make decisions and recommendations on behalf of California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) and the veterans we represent before the USDVA and the Board of Veterans Appeals
Must complete the requirements necessary to acquire and maintain access to USDVA systems (including VBMS and VACOLS) within 12 months of employment
Must obtain and maintain background clearance with CDCR within the first six months of employment
Experience working with the public and specifically working with veterans, dependents & their survivors
Experience in the analysis of Federal, State, or County regulations and policies in determining eligibility/entitlement to benefits
Experience and knowledge in case management
Experience working with different government and non-government entities as partners
Experience using MS Office Suite, e.g. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access etc
