Legal Counsel

Veritas Veterinary Partners is a leading and growing network of specialty and emergency veterinary hospitals. As Legal Counsel, you will serve as a strategic advisor and legal partner, supporting operations across five states and guiding leadership through complex legal landscapes.

Responsibilities

Lead Contract Negotiations
Manage and negotiate contracts with vendors, partners, and service providers
Draft, review, and revise legal agreements including employment contracts, NDAs, and service agreements
Ensure contracts are compliant and aligned with organizational goals
Ensure Employment Law Compliance
Provide legal counsel on employment law matters across NY, CO, NJ, CA, and NV
Monitor regulatory changes and proactively update internal policies
Support HR and operations in resolving employee relations issues and investigations
Support Strategic Initiatives
Collaborate with C-level executives and cross-functional teams to align legal strategy with business objectives
Advise on union prevention, audit compliance, and risk management initiatives
Demonstrate Leadership Behaviors
Influence C-Level Executives: Provide clear, strategic legal guidance to senior leadership
Strategic Leadership: Anticipate legal challenges and shape proactive solutions
Work Collaboratively: Partner across departments to support shared goals
Serve Others: Uphold a service-first mindset in support of teammates, clients, and the veterinary community

Qualification

Required

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; active bar membership in at least one of the following states: NY, CO, NJ, CA, NV
Minimum 5–7 years of experience in corporate law, with a strong emphasis on contract negotiation and employment law
Proven ability to manage complex, multi-state legal matters
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and collaborate across departments

Preferred

Experience in healthcare, veterinary, or multi-site operations
