ASSOCIATE HYDROELECTRIC POWER UTILITY ENGINEER

Caltrans District 3 is part of the Department of Water Resources, which manages California’s water resources. They are seeking an Associate Hydroelectric Power Utility Engineer to collect, analyze, and reconcile power and transmission costs and revenues of State Water Project operations.

Collect, analyze, and reconcile power and transmission costs and revenues of State Water Project (SWP) operations
Perform electric utility computations related to engineering studies for the use, sale, and purchase of SWP power

Required

Possession of a valid California driver's license for travel to attend meetings with other divisions within the Department

Preferred

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have excellent communication skills, and have experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
Experience and/or knowledge of engineering economics, database logic, water supply systems, California energy markets, SWP facilities and operations, keen eye to detailed analyses, developing or documenting polices and processes, functioning and structure, electric utility operations, Power Transactions Distribution, Reconciliation and Repayments
Experience with Data Integrity (Database Systems and Excel Files)
Strong Communications Skills (Effectively Communicate Complex Issues in Understandable Terms)
Extensive excel capabilities, and engineering fundamentals relating to electric utilities
Familiarity with SWP Expenditure and Revenue Experience and Technical Financial Interactions with California Independent System Operator-Market Redesign and Technology Upgrade systems
Ability to learn to work with large databases (SAP, CAB, Dream Report, and Power Costs Incorporation)
