Site Automation Engineer

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for multiple robotic assembly systems deployed to a major tech customer
You will be interacting with customer and customer manufacturing partner about performance of our equipment
You will be collecting customer feedback and sharing it within our organization as part of continuous improvement process and product roadmap development
You will be the primary interface between a team of remote technical experts and those on the line which includes field service engineers and customer production leads
Use your troubleshooting skills, live data, diagnostic tools, and customer feedback to assess hardware and software anomalies and determine corrective actions
Maintain status reports at various levels of detail and synthesis
Educate and train customers on device operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair
Provide excellent customer service, actively listen to customer concerns, and address issues
Travel up to 25%, mostly for training with possible support of other EMEA sites
Be able to work on 2nd shift
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role, ideally in an automation or robotics environment
Associate's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; a Bachelor's degree is a plus
Hands-on experience working with automation systems, robotics, and PLCs (FANUC robotics and Beckhoff PLC experience are a plus)
Experience using vision systems for inspection and point-of-interest alignment, with a general understanding of optics (MATROX or COGNEX experience is a bonus)
Familiarity with labeling systems and industrial printers, preferably HERMES or ZEBRA
Comfort working with complex programs, including nested recipes
Confidence working with electro-mechanical systems and a natural curiosity for diagnosing and troubleshooting complex issues
Experience reading and creating technical documentation, including electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings (2D and 3D)
Basic experience with 3D CAD tools, ideally SolidWorks
Ability to repair and maintain mechanical systems in an operational environment
A self-starter who works well independently and takes ownership of their work
A calm, professional approach and a strong commitment to supporting customers
Strong skills in reporting, data collection, and problem analysis
Preferred
Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment or similar
Familiarity with code, command line interfaces, and can find your way around a LAN. (Production-style coding is not required)
