Civil Engineering Intern
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is offering a summer internship for students to gain hands-on work experience in civil engineering. The role involves assisting in the inspection of construction work, performing field testing of materials, and documenting data to ensure compliance with government regulations.
Responsibilities
Assist in inspection of contractor’s work and methods so that the construction work meets the requirements of the plans, specifications, and special provisions
Perform field testing of construction materials to ensure that tests are performed accurately, timely, thoroughly, and according to specification
Document and summarize all appropriate data necessary to pay contractors promptly and process final contract acceptance documents to ensure data integrity and compliance with government regulations
Qualification
Required
Must be 18 years old or older
Knowledge and application of advanced mathematics including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
Knowledge of computer software used in testing and design work and ability to use windows based operating systems
Ability to understand technical documents and follow instructions
Candidates must be currently enrolled or enrolling within three months as a full-time student (six semester/9 quarter credits) in a post-secondary or graduate program
Valid Class D Driver's License required
