Responsibilities
Manage and review complex tax engagements, including corporate, fiduciary (complex, grantor, simple, and split-interest), gift, individual, partnership, and private foundation tax returns
Oversee preparation of tax workpapers, lead sheets, tax projections, and estimated tax payments
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by analyzing tax positions, identifying planning opportunities, and providing recommendations to minimize tax liabilities
Perform and review tax research to support planning and compliance initiatives
Oversee preparation and review of client compliance filings, including:1099 year-end information reporting
Monthly or quarterly sales tax filings
Annual business license and personal property tax returns
Stay current on federal, state, and local tax law developments and assess their impact on clients
Lead, mentor, and review the work of Tax Accounting Seniors and other team members
Assist with resource planning, workflow management, and engagement timelines
Support the general administration of the Tax Department, including process documentation and quality control
Lead or contribute to special projects, including process improvement, automation initiatives, and internal research efforts
Promote continuing education and knowledge-sharing within the tax team
Qualification
Required
Completed Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
EA or CPA is a plus (not required upon hire)
Minimum 10+ years' experience in tax preparation and review
Excellent knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations
Strong knowledge of Excel, Word and Quick Books
Demonstrated experience managing or mentoring staff
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with senior management, client administration, portfolio managers and high-net-worth clients
