Responsibilities

Organizes and directs Branch activities and functions through three section chiefs, i.e. (Materials and Investigation, Soils Design, and Geology Sections)
Make management decisions, applying professional judgment to resolve problems caused by the diversity and scope of the work of the Branch and from the multiplicity of interests involved
Analyzes workload and recommends adjustment of Branch strength commensurate with assigned and projected workloads
Directs, through section chiefs, all matters relating to subsurface explorations, foundations and embankment design, site investigations, seismically, geologic and seismic hazards, undersee page, slope protection, construction materials development, pavement design, materials laboratory testing, and other functions pertaining to geology, seismically, soil mechanics, foundations engineering, earthquake engineering, and engineering materials

Professional Engineer (PE) is required
Financial Disclosure OGE-450 is required
Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering or Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in geology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological science, structural, chemical, civil, mining or petroleum engineering, computer science, planetary geology, comparative planetology, geophysics, meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, physical geography, marine geology, and cartography
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying practical knowledge of engineering and design to civil works projects with multiple complexities of technical issues, public impact and environmental sensitivity, and managing, leading or supervising a complex engineering organization, completing engineering work and developing professional staff members
All positions require the applicant to be a citizen of the United States
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration
One year trial/probationary period may be required
Direct Deposit of Pay is required
This position requires you to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter
