TRIO Academic Success Coach

Copiah-Lincoln Community College is seeking a TRIO Academic Success Coach who is primarily responsible for all counseling services and transfer assistance related to the Program. The role involves advising and counseling TRIO students, supervising counseling sessions, and coordinating activities pertaining to student transfers to 4-year institutions.

Higher Education

Responsibilities

Becomes knowledgeable and remains current regarding the scope and purpose of the SSS program at Co-Lin
Advises and counsels TRIO students
Supervises individual and group counseling sessions
Functions as an advisor, instructor, counselor, tutor, and professional staff person
Assists the Director with the selection of students, reports, and evaluation
Provides progress reports
Consults with faculty, financial aid and admissions officials on behalf of Program participants
Provides periodic workshops on affective and academic topics, such as stress management, test taking, etc
Tracks students' academic progress
Coordinate activities pertaining to the transfer of students to 4-year institutions and conduct site visits to 4-year institution and track student transfer to these universities
Performs other duties as assigned

Master's DegreeCounseling experienceAdvising experienceDisadvantaged youthTesting proceduresAcademic inventoriesGroup counselingIndividual counseling

Required

Master's Degree in counseling, student services, psychology or closely related field
Three (3) years of counseling/advising experience
Knowledge of the academic, economic, social and cultural needs of disadvantaged youth
Experience in testing procedures and the interpretation of academic and career inventories
