IT Manager - Engineering IT Shared Services
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is seeking an IT Manager for their Engineering IT Shared Services. This role involves managing IT services for the Grainger College of Engineering, providing leadership to the Service Team, and ensuring the delivery of reliable End User Services.

Supervising professional IT staff assigned to team
Providing professional growth guidance and coaching to IT professionals with varying levels of experience
Promoting strong team development and networking opportunities
Using performance management best practices to create a healthy environment for individual employee growth
Overseeing the services of the team to ensure quality, reliability, and responsiveness
Participating on Engineering IT Leadership Team with other organizational management
Participating on IT Operations Leadership Team to advise the Associate Director on topics related to the IT Operations division
Leading the Service Team in new initiatives, methods, and projects to best serve the Grainger College of Engineering customers
Using common project management methodologies to ensure team projects, tasks, and initiatives are completed in time and scope
Sponsoring or leading virtual, project, or task-focused teams within Engineering IT Shared Services
Participating on campus level teams or initiatives that improve IT impacts for the Grainger College of Engineering
Coordinating and liaising with other campus IT providers to use and improve shared or central IT services
Serving one or more of The Grainger College of Engineering units as a Customer Relationship Manager
Providing a single point of contact for unit administration and customers to resolve issues around IT services, and proactively plan for the unit’s future IT needs and projects
Meeting regularly with Engineering IT staff assigned to unit and unit administrators to ensure services and activities are properly supported

Qualification
Required
Six (6) years of work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field, which includes supervisory or lead worker capacity. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT Systems, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year, Associate's degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months, 90 semester hours equals two (2) years, Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years
Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or lead work capacity in an IT environment
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree
Four (4) or more years' experience hiring, training, and managing students or staff
Two (2) years of total work experience in a supervisory or lead worker capacity in an IT environment
Experience working in higher education or other organization with a diffused power structure
Demonstrated experience and/or training in customer relationships management work
Demonstrated experience with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Frameworks
Ability to think critically and propose service and structural changes to improve performance within and between teams
Knowledge of and ability to use project management skills
Familiarity with the technical requirements of compliance with FERPA
Demonstrated knowledge managing hourly or professional employees
Knowledge of HR policies and best practices for hiring, evaluating, developing, and disciplining employees
Knowledge of customer relationship management methods and tactics
Knowledge of the systems and operations used within the areas and departments of responsibility
Knowledge of common project management and work breakdown methods
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Demonstrated ability to achieve results through others, as well as ability to deliver individual results
Ability to effectively communicate with other colleagues, supervisors, administrative staff, and other campus/agency units
Ability to identify and resolve technical and personnel problems
Ability to effectively communicate and professionally interact with all staff levels
Ability to oversee and coordinate activities of assigned staff
Ability to lead project or task-focused teams to successful deliverables
Ability to plan and adjust allocations of staff and budgets to meeting team mission
Ability to design and implement team change, workflows, and other team initiatives
Ability to reliably deliver IT services in a continuously changing and ambiguous environment
Ability to work across teams, divisions, and organizations to create mutually beneficial improvements and solutions
Ability to effectively manage and resolve conflict
