SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR (WG/12) - Title 32

Responsibilities
Serve as an inspector of surface maintenance vehicles and equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards and specifications
Conduct complex inspection work, requiring a wide variety of inspection processes and techniques, at remote worksites or field installations where a supervisor is not readily available
Perform work very independently and make decisions that require a wide range of subjective judgments
Qualification
Required
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement
Membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard
Eligibility for immediate membership in the National Guard if not currently a member
Military Grades: E-1 through E-9 and WO1 through CW3
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968
Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers
May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required
Responsible to maintain awareness of environmental responsibilities as dictated by legal and regulatory requirements
May be required to wear authorized PPE in performing duties
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least 18 months experience or training diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems
Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment
Experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems
Experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems
