ASSOCIATE TAX AUDITOR, BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is responsible for efficiently collecting revenue that supports essential public services. They are seeking an Associate Tax Auditor who will conduct audits primarily in the restaurant and cannabis industries, explain findings to taxpayers, and prepare audit reports. The role requires significant travel and may involve overnight stays.

Independently conducts audits that generally consist of retailers in the restaurant and cannabis industry and other business enterprises
Conducts fraud/tax evasion audits and may testify in court to liabilities determined
Makes audit appointments; meets with taxpayers and their representatives; explains audit findings; and prepares appropriate audit reports and written correspondence to taxpayers
Travel may be required up to fifty percent (50%) of the time, which may include overnight travel

Position is designated as a mobile worker position and will require an incumbent to spend the majority of their time (fifty percent or more) working at various locations other than their home or office in a single day
Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for partial telework for eligible candidates residing in California
All telework/hybrid schedules require staff to report to the office a minimum number of days per week
Position requires employee to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a background investigation
The position requires the incumbent to travel at least fifty percent (50%) of the time, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or overnight travel in various locations statewide
Work long irregular hours, both in and out of the office in various locations
Completed applications and all required documents must be received or postmarked by the Final Filing Date in order to be considered
Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s)
A completed Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted with your STD. 678 in order to be considered for this position
The SOQ must be no more than two (2) pages in length, one and a half (1.5) spaced, Arial 12-point font
