Materials Supervisor

Responsibilities

Oversee the procurement, storage, and distribution of materials used in the production of autonomous vessels. Ensure proper inventory levels, track material usage, and ensure that materials are available for production schedules
Work closely with receiving teams to ensure the timely inspection and acceptance of materials. Monitor performance to maintain the supply chain’s efficiency
Ensure that all materials meet industry standards and specific DoD requirements. Conduct regular inspections and work with the quality assurance team to address any discrepancies or issues
Implement and maintain an efficient inventory control system. Track inventory levels and perform regular audits to ensure accuracy
Coordinate the logistics of incoming materials, ensuring the timely and secure delivery to production facilities. Manage transportation and storage logistics in alignment with project timelines
Maintain up-to-date records of materials, inventories, and order statuses. Generate regular reports on material usage, ordering trends, and stock levels
Supervise and mentor a team of material handlers and other relevant staff. Provide guidance on best practices for material management and logistics
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to materials handling, storage, and transportation. Promote a safe working environment and adhere to safety protocols
Work closely with engineering, production, and other departments to support the development and manufacturing of autonomous vessels. Provide expertise on material selection and sourcing based on project needs

Required

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of experience in materials management or a related field, preferably in the defense, aerospace, or maritime industries
Strong knowledge of material procurement, inventory management, and logistics
Proficiency in materials management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
Experience with materials testing, certifications, and military-grade standards
In-depth understanding of supply chain management in high-tech or defense settings
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
Strong communication for working with receiving teams and internal departments
Ability to lead and develop teams effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities
Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours/day
Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 50lbs
The ability to carry 50lbs. up and down stairs
Ability to work outside for an extended period of time
Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install vehicle parts of varying size and weight overhead, accurately and in allotted timeframes
Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
Climb and maintain balance on ladders, platforms, or other high structures
Ability to find issues in a work process and be alert to safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing

Preferred

Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred
Familiarity with DoD procurement procedures, regulations, and standards is preferred
