Responsibilities
Lead substation projects from conceptual design through final construction
Prepare and review substation design deliverables, including:
Physical layouts (above and below grade)
Protective relaying and control systems
Grounding, lightning protection, lighting, and security systems
Develop engineering calculations, including:
Insulation coordination
AC and DC station service systems
Battery sizing
Voltage drop
Cable sizing and conduit fill
Prepare design sketches, technical specifications, cost estimates, bills of materials, and equipment data
Apply IEEE, NESC, utility, and internal engineering standards, specifications, and procedures
Conduct field inspections of substation facilities for public and private utilities
Lead the execution of complex engineering assignments using advanced tools and techniques
Identify, communicate, and resolve project issues
Manage project schedules and budgets under general supervision
Coordinate with internal project teams to ensure deliverables meet client and quality standards
Perform design quality reviews and ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures
Participate in client meetings and support proposal development
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field from an ABET-accredited program with 7+ years of substation or power delivery experience
OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology (ABET) with FE certification and 7+ years of related experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills
Ability to apply engineering principles to complex and diverse assignments
Preferred
Prior consulting or utility project experience
Professional Engineer (PE) License
