Responsibilities
Assist in overseeing the end-to-end payroll process for multiple entities and jurisdictions
Ensure compliance with all applicable payroll laws, regulations, and internal policies
Manage multi-state payroll tax reporting, filings, and reconciliations, including quarterly and annual returns, and W-2 filing
Collaborate with HR, Finance and Accounting, Project teams, and external vendors to ensure accurate employee data and timely processing
Analyze labor costs and variance analysis
Oversee union payroll reporting, fringe benefit submissions, and prevailing wage compliance reporting
Lead audits and respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy
Maintain and update payroll systems, ensuring data integrity and security
Supervise and support Payroll Coordinators, fostering collaboration and professional development
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll compliance and payroll tax, preferably in a multi-state environment
Strong knowledge of Federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, UKG, Paycom, or similar)
Proficiency with construction accounting software such as Viewpoint/Spectrum, Procore, etc
Knowledge of union payroll, prevailing wage laws, certified payroll reporting, and construction job costing
High proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, xlookups, complex formulas)
Knowledge of worker's compensation classifications and audit processes
High level of confidentiality and integrity
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
Preferred
CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is a plus
