Responsibilities
Install, route, and secure copper and fiber optic cabling systems (CAT 5e/6/6A, single-mode and multimode fiber)
Perform termination of copper and fiber cabling, including patch panels, jacks, racks, enclosures, and fiber panels
Conduct testing and troubleshooting using appropriate test equipment (copper certification testers, OTDR, light source and power meter)
Interpret and work from construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and scope of work documents
Ensure all installations meet BICSI, TIA/EIA, NEC, and local code requirements
Label, document, and maintain accurate as-built drawings and test results
Support site surveys, pathway planning, and space coordination with customers and other trades
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment; comply with all safety policies and procedures
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to resolve field issues and support project schedules
Mentor Level I technicians and apprentices as needed
Qualification
Required
BICSI Level II Technician certification (current)
3–5 years of experience in structured cabling and telecommunications infrastructure
Working knowledge of data center, commercial office, healthcare, and secure facility environments
Proficiency with hand and power tools commonly used in low-voltage installations
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces
Willingness to travel locally and work flexible hours, including nights or weekends when required
Preferred
BICSI Installer 2 (Copper or Fiber) or Technician certification
Experience with large-scale or mission-critical projects (data centers, government, financial institutions)
Knowledge of grounding and bonding requirements for telecommunications systems
Manufacturer certifications (Panduit, CommScope, Corning, Leviton, etc.)
