They are seeking an Accountant responsible for ensuring accurate financial information related to banking reconciliations, abandoned property reporting, and 1099 reporting. The role encompasses various accounting tasks including account reconciliations, reporting, and customer service for inquiries.

Responsibilities
Complete filings for state reporting of abandoned property for Travelers and its affiliates
Research and update payee information on escheatable property
Produce and distribute reports within Abandoned Property
Produce and distribute abandoned property owner notifications
Research and assist in the recovery of property due to Travelers and its affiliates
Complete filings for state reporting of 1099 withholding
Complete bank reconciliation processes
Reconcile general ledger accounts for company bank accounts, abandoned property accounts, and 1099 withholding accounts
Take part in maintenance of systems and processes
Provide information to internal and external customers
Compile and review financial data for reporting and accuracy
Prepare, evaluate, and support the creation of analyses to support financial/business plans, budget, and forecasts
Prepare, evaluate, and complete components for internal management based financial reporting, consistent results with corporate policies and standards
Prepare, evaluate, and complete components of external financial statements which may include GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SEC and STAT (Statutory Accounting Principles)
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting
Knowledge of accounting theory and practice
Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to pay attention to detail and effectively convey information
Ability to leverage analytical skills access and gather data, including a basic understanding of what the data represents
Ability to proactively manage time and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to solve challenges and make recommendations for more efficient processes
Experience using Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Knowledge to perform most work in normal situations
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
