Responsibilities
Author CNC programs from engineering drawings, models, and specifications
Design fixtures that enable quick-change setups and consistent results
Select tooling and define speeds/feeds, cutter types, and machining strategies
Run first-article parts to confirm the program produces conforming components
Continuously elevate programs and processes to drive quality, efficiency, and throughput
Create setup sheets and maintain documentation for repeatability and control
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing engineering to resolve process and quality challenges
Train machinists on new parts, processes, and programs to ensure a clean handoff to production
Engage with tooling vendors and technical consultants to evaluate emerging tools and technologies
Support workforce development through training and knowledge sharing
Advance team capability by exploring new programming techniques, tools, and training opportunities
Complete time, attendance, and inventory reporting and other required documentation
Maintain a safe, organized, and 6S-compliant work area; follow all safety regulations and best practices
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
5+ years of CNC programming experience, or 3+ years with a technical diploma
Proficiency with CAM systems (Mastercam, GibbsCAM, Fusion 360, or equivalent)
Programming experience with 3-, 4-, and/or 5-axis CNC machines
In-depth understanding of tooling selection, tool wear, and metal-cutting strategies
Demonstrated ability to lead programs through first article, capability runs, and production release
Capability to perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for dimensional, surface finish, or machining issues
Advanced blueprint literacy including expert GD&T; knowledge of inspection approaches and relevant military specs
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and workflow
Preferred
experience with Lean and quality systems (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, AS9100D)
