Deputy Chief Inspector
The City of New York is seeking a Full-Time Deputy Chief Inspector in the Bureau of Fire Prevention. The successful candidate will direct the Entertainment Unit responsible for monitoring and inspecting film locations, special effects production sites, fireworks displays, and explosive escorts to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations.

Responsibilities
Overseeing Fire Protection Inspectors from Entertainment, Hazardous Cargo, Fireworks Safety Units
Communicate with Mayors Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME)
Follow verbal or written instructions given by the Director/Chief Inspector of the Explosive Unit, and Deputy Director/Chief Inspector of the Entertainment Unit
Work Days, Nights, Weekend, and Holidays when the need is called for
Qualification
Required
Five (5) years of full-time experience in or more of the following: the manufacture or storage of explosives or flammables; the development of safety standards for the manufacture or storage of such materials; the inspection of premises where such materials are manufactured, stored or houses to detect potential fire and explosion hazards; the design, installation, operation, repair and testing of sprinkler systems, standpipes, or other fire detection or fire extinguishing systems; or Education and/or experience equivalent to '1' above. Education from an accredited college or technical institution with specialization in fire science technology, chemistry, physics or engineering may be substituted for the experience requirement on the basis of one year of education (30 credits) for one year of experience, up to a maximum of 4 years
A Motor Vehicle Driver's License valid in the State of New York
Preferred
Displays Knowledge of the Fire Code, Rules of the city of New York, and Referenced standards that are in the Fire Code that pertain to Film Production, Fireworks, Transportation of Explosives
The ability to Communicate with the Public/Colleagues in a well-organized, courteous, and effective manner
The ability to Prepare reports of moderate complexity, and special reports When requested by the Director/Chief Inspector, and or Deputy Director/Chief Inspector
Posses an E-20 Certificate of Fitness
