Tax Specialist

Cambridge & Sterling LLC is seeking an experienced Tax Specialist to support their Trusts & Estates practice on a temporary part-time basis. This role focuses on preparing and reviewing individual and trust income tax returns, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with federal and state tax regulations.

Law Practice

Responsibilities

Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals and trusts
Collect, organize, and analyze financial information including income, deductions, distributions, and trust/estate activity
Collaborate with internal teams and clients to secure required documentation and resolve tax-related questions
Monitor and apply current tax laws and regulatory changes to ensure compliance
Maintain accurate and organized tax records, files, and correspondence
Support overall workflow efficiency and contribute to quality control within the tax team

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required
Previous experience preparing individual and trust income tax returns is required
Strong working knowledge of federal and state tax codes and relevant compliance rules
Strong analytical and technical tax knowledge, particularly in trust and individual tax reporting
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and tax preparation platforms

Preferred

CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification preferred
Experience using professional tax preparation software such as ProSystem fx, CCH Axcess, Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE, or equivalent
Experience supporting high-net-worth clients or a Trusts & Estates practice
Ability to work collaboratively within a professional services environment
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to managing workload
