Responsibilities

Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks
Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes
Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics)
Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data
Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports
May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis
Provide engineering support for auxiliary machinery and components currently under new construction and in naval service
Assist with first principle engineering analyses, calculations, and technical evaluations under supervision
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for accuracy and compliance
Support Construction and in service Engineering activities, including issue resolution and design support
Assist in interactions with vendors and suppliers, including review and coordination of Vendor Information Requests (VIRs)
Support technical review and resolution of vendor nonconformance’s, deviations, and corrective action proposals under the direction of senior engineers
Learn and apply applicable Naval and shipyard standards, specifications, procedures, and quality requirements

Required

US Citizenship Required for this Position: Yes
Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: NNS Apprentice School graduate, Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate, High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience, High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience

Strong Verbal Communication and writing skills
Ability to work effectively in a team-based process-driven engineering environment
Ability to be self-motivated and take work ownership
Ability to learn and follow quality and procedural processes
Strong foundational understanding of engineering fundamentals (e.g. Statics, Dynamics, materials, as applicable)
Ability to perform basic calculations and technical evaluations
