Responsibilities
Oversee and perform full-cycle payroll processing for multiple entities and locations nationwide
Supervise, train, and support the payroll team to ensure accuracy and timeliness
Review and verify employee hours, pay rates, deductions, and reimbursements
Manage multiple pay cycles (e.g., weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly)
Ensure accurate calculation and timely filing of multi-state payroll taxes
Reconcile payroll reports, tax filings, and payroll-related bank accounts
Prepare and review payroll journal entries and support month-end close activities
Ensure compliance with California and other applicable state wage and hour laws
Serve as the primary payroll contact for internal stakeholders and external agencies
Respond to payroll-related questions from employees and management
Coordinate with Accounting, HR, and external payroll vendors as needed
Maintain payroll records and ensure proper documentation and controls
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Minimum 5+ years of payroll experience, including supervising a payroll team
Proven experience processing payroll for multi-entity organizations
Strong experience managing multiple pay cycles
In-depth knowledge of multi-state payroll taxes, with strong California expertise
Experience handling payroll for employees across multiple U.S. states
Solid understanding of payroll accounting and reconciliations
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization
Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with payroll systems and accounting software
