Teacher Early Head Start - Multiple Positions Available in Brooklyn Early Childhood Development Centers (ECDC)

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens is seeking Early Head Start Teachers for their Brooklyn Early Childhood Development Centers. The role involves leading a teaching team to implement developmentally appropriate activities based on the Montessori curriculum, ensuring the holistic development of children aged six weeks to three years.

Responsibilities

Ensures a learning environment based on the Montessori approach that helps the children develop physically, emotionally, socially, cognitively, and creatively
Ensures information obtained via observations, conferences, tracking, etc. is used to design developmentally appropriate and individualized lesson plans
Ensures daily routines such as napping, eating, toileting, timely diaper changing, and washing are carried out in a healthy manner with respect given to an individual child’s needs
Ensures information regarding children and the program is shared with parents
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualification

Required

CDA (Child Development Associate) Credential plus a Study Plan to obtain an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education within 7 years or
Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in a pre-school classroom or infant toddler classroom
If not already Montessori trained, must commit to enroll in the Agency's Montessori training program within the first year of hire
Ability to nurture and care children from 2 months of age through 24 months of age
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
Able to travel to multiple locations within the five boroughs as needed

Preferred

Associate Degree; Bachelors Degree; Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education or in related field (Elementary Education, Nursery to 6th Grade Elementary Education, Special Education, Students with Disabilities Birth to 2nd Grade; Child Psychology, Child Development, General Education accompanied by 12 credits specific to Early Childhood Education)
N.Y.S. Initial/Professional Certification - Birth-2
Nursey to 6th grade, Birth to 2nd Grade, pre-k to 6th Grade, student with disabilities - birth to 2nd grade, and Special education in Nursery or Kindergarten to 12th grade
Bilingual Spanish/English; Russian/English; Chinese/English; Korean/English; English/Creole speaking
