Responsibilities
Supervises and directs Maintenance Foremen, Plumbers, Electricians, HVAC Specialists, and inmate work crews, ensuring tasks are assigned appropriately and completed to institutional standards
Provides technical guidance, hands-on assistance, and oversight to staff and inmate workers, fostering safe and efficient work practices
Inspects, reviews, and approves completed maintenance and repair projects to ensure compliance with safety codes, quality standards, and facility requirements
Oversees maintenance and repair of facility systems during weekend on-call duty status, responding promptly to urgent needs to maintain operational continuity
Trains and mentors inmate workers in basic maintenance and repair skills, reinforcing safety protocols and accountability while supporting rehabilitation initiatives
Coordinates with other departments to schedule and prioritize maintenance projects, minimizing disruption to institutional operations
Maintains accurate records of work assignments, inspections, and completed projects to support reporting and compliance requirements
Qualification
Required
Four years of experience in the building construction trade, building construction, building maintenance, or road or bridge construction or maintenance
Completion of a two-year training program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trade, building construction, building maintenance, or road or bridge construction or maintenance
Twelve semester hours in a construction field or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trade, building construction, building maintenance, or road or bridge construction or maintenance
