The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) is dedicated to providing comprehensive environmental protection for the people of Louisiana. As an Environmental Scientist in the Enforcement Division, you will review compliance data, investigate potential violations, and ensure facilities adhere to environmental laws.

Responsibilities

Review inspection reports, self-reported data, and permit information to identify violations and determine appropriate enforcement actions
Coordinate with surveillance staff, legal staff, and other divisions to resolve compliance issues and support enforcement activities
Conduct follow-up site visits and investigations, draft enforcement documents, and monitor facilities for compliance after actions are issued
Communicate with regulated facilities, the public, and internal staff regarding compliance matters, enforcement processes, and regulatory requirements
Provide technical support during enforcement proceedings and represent the Department at meetings, conferences, and outreach events

Required

A bachelor's degree in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field
A master's degree or doctorate in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field
