Mechanical Process Engineer

Responsibilities

Develop processes and procedures for high complexity assemblies to meet customers' requirements
Design tools, jigs and fixtures for electromechanical assembly processes
Identify the opportunity, evaluate, procure, install and qualify new automation/capital equipment
Lead efforts to improve utilization of existing equipment
Support and improve manual soldering and assembly operations
Lead Root Cause and Corrective Actions for defects, yield improvement and escapes
Continuously improve tooling design guidelines and reuse libraries
Lead the validation and verification of new production tooling/fixturing
Ensure all equipment has the optimal preventative maintenance defined and establish new procedures
Troubleshoot equipment issues, working with both internal and external support to resolve issues in a timely manner to minimize production downtime
Collect, analyze and drive action from manufacturing data
Utilize Design of Experiments to establish new processes and drive improvements to existing
Support production technicians and operators on issues that arise
Both lead and support process improvement efforts with the team

Required

Engineering Bachelors Degree or higher in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or related discipline. Or equivalent experience
Customer service orientated (internal and external) with excellent written and oral communication skills
US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Preferred

2+ years experience in an electronics manufacturing setting
Hands on knowledge of SMT & Through-Hole Soldering, Component Prep, Automated Inspection Systems, Wash & Cleanliness, Electro-Mechanical Assembly, Coating/Staking/Bonding, etc
High proficiency in part constraints, dimensioning, tolerancing and GD&T
Demonstrated expertise in designing tools and fixtures
Demonstrated experience selecting and qualifying new automated/capital equipment
Practical knowledge of equipment and process qualification using IQ, OQ, PQ or similar
Demonstrated experience setting up and executing DOE's
Deep understanding of SPC and manufacturing data analysis
Strong understanding of material science as it relates to material selection, solder, flux, adhesives, etc
Experience in an ISO9001 / AS9100 / ISO13485 certified quality management system
Working knowledge of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC 7711/7721, IPC-A-600, and/or ANSI/ESD S20.20
Proficiency in business systems such as MES, PLM, ERP, MRB
