They are hiring multiple Mission Operations Assurance Engineers to ensure the health, safety, and success of spacecraft and science operations at the Goddard Space Flight Center.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with Mission Directors, Flight Operations Teams (FOT), Flight Software Sustaining Engineering (FSSE), Chief Safety and Mission Assurance Officers (CSOs), Software Assurance Engineers (SAEs), Reliability Engineers, and Commodity Experts to ensure the health, safety, and success of spacecraft and/or science operations
Works with the SMA Team prior to launch to transfer mission– specific knowledge (e.g., Project's risk list, CSO's risk list, PR/PFRs, waivers, lessons learned)
Supports pre- launch mission simulations, as well as the Operational Readiness Reviews and Flight Readiness Reviews
Provides an independent risk assessment of operational requirements, configuration management, standard operating procedures, and sustaining engineering plans and procedures
Ensures flight readiness of the Flight Operations Team (FOT) and verifies pre-launch readiness
Supports launch & in-orbit checkout
Post- launch provides independent risk assessments of critical and first-time events, evaluates on-orbit anomalies and resolution, evaluates change management processes and products, assesses Mission Operations processes for compliance, provides Meta training to Mission Operations support staff, and provides independent risk assessments throughout mission operations

Required

Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or major science (i.e., math, computer science, or physics)
5+ years of experience with ground systems and mission operations
Must be able to qualify for an unescorted badge (US Citizen required) and be able to pass a background investigation & drug test
Ability to interact professionally with coworkers, management, and customers
Requires ability to travel domestically (within the U.S.) <10%
Requires sitting for periods of time at a workstation/ desk and / work in operational processing areas
Ability to lift >15 lbs
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgement
Work attire must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk / hazard to the employee or others
