Responsibilities
Support daily field oversight of contractor activities, ensuring work complies with approved plans, specifications, and safety requirements
Assist with reviewing submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and technical documentation, coordinate responses with design teams and the Resident Engineer
Perform field measurements, quantity tracking, and verification of installed work for payment applications
Document field conditions through daily reports, photos, inspection logs, and progress summaries
Monitor construction progress and help identify potential issues related to schedule, quality, or safety
Support coordination with transit operations, maintenance, safety teams, and third-party stakeholders to maintain safe work zones and minimize service impacts
Participate in field inspections, testing, and commissioning activities for systems and facilities
Assist with change order evaluations, cost analysis, and tracking of project risks
Maintain organized project records in accordance with client and firm standards
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all field activities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
1–4 years of experience in construction, engineering, or field inspection (transit or heavy civil experience preferred)
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and field engineering practices
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents
Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
Proficiency with construction and project management tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, MS Project, Primavera P6)
Preferred
Experience working on transit, rail, or public‑sector infrastructure projects
Ability to work effectively in active, operational transit environments
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving field issues
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
