Responsibilities

Serve as acting Operations Manager in their absence, providing direction to Park Operations staff and ensuring continuity of daily operations
Represent Park Operations in Board, leadership, and interdepartmental meetings when serving in the acting capacity
Assist the Operations Manager to ensure staff comply with agency, departmental policies, procedures, and safety protocols
Directly supervises Park Technicians and provides indirect oversight of Seasonal Park Technicians
Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and high standards of performance
Participate in the recruitment, hiring, orientation, and onboarding of new staff
Plan, assign, and review work to ensure timely and effective completion of tasks
Provide mentoring and guidance to support professional growth
Evaluate employee performance and provide regular feedback
Address performance issues and recommend disciplinary actions, when necessary, in coordination with the Operations Manager
Review and approve timecards, assist with scheduling, and ensure adequate staffing levels
Perform and oversee routine and preventative maintenance of park grounds, buildings, facilities, vehicles, tools and equipment to ensure safe and effective operations
Apply pesticides and herbicides in accordance with regulations and maintains accurate records of applications
Lead and participate in construction, carpentry, repair and improvement projects
Order supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to support operations and staff needs
Provide courteous and professional customer service to park visitors responding to inquiries and resolving issues when possible
Perform winter operations, including snow plowing, salting, and walkway treatment
Assists with planning, preparation, and logistical support for departmental events, programs, and special projects
Assist the Operations Manager with administrative responsibilities
Maintain accurate records and prepare reports related to operations, projects, and staffing
Communicate and coordinate effectively with staff across multiple departments, including Planning, Natural Resources, Education, Fiscal, Law Enforcement, and Marketing and Communications
Support planning and coordination of events, including scheduling travel arrangements, and related logistics
Develop, manage, and monitor budgets for assigned projects and operational needs
Track expenditures, review invoices, and ensure compliance with established budgetary guidelines
Analyze operational needs and identify cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality, safety, and service standards
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure materials, services, and equipment as needed
Maintain financial documentation and assist with budget forecasting and planning
Collaborate with other departments to plan and implement joint projects, initiatives, and operational activities
Provide leadership, direction and support to volunteers assisting with park operations and special projects

Required

Associate's degree in Natural Resources or related field
ODA Pesticide Applicator License, Valid driver's license
Chainsaw 1 & 2 Certifications, Basic First Aid, CPR and AED Certification
5+ years of previous work-related experience
1-3 years of previous supervisory experience

Preferred

OUPS (Ohio Utility Protection Service)
OSHA 10-hour training
