Responsibilities
Research assigned stories and develop individual ideas into relevant content, incorporating multimedia aspects such as video, audio, and/or photography
Respond with urgency to breaking news, including writing stories and/or producing visuals on deadline with a digital-first audience in mind
Gather and verify information for stories through interviews, observations, and research
Build rapport with story sources and contributors, and stay attuned to local, regional, and state issues
Embrace a creative, collaborative approach with other team members and with other FCC departments and locations
Contribute to the overall advancement of digital initiatives; share and promote digital content through various social media channels as needed
Qualification
Required
Candidates should be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in journalism, mass communication, or a related field
Flexibility in scheduling
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and emotional situations, balance competing demands, set priorities, and juggle multiple commitments at once
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen, interview, and take accurate notes and write accurate, clear, and concise stories
Detail oriented, with strong organizational skills
Computer skills in word processing and content management systems
Preferred
Professional experience writing strongly preferred, as is AP style writing experience
