Responsibilities
Advise prospective and current undergraduate and master’s students in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering and Undecided-Engineering about academic program requirements and provide guidance on choosing and completing a program or concentration
Advise current students with on-campus course, web, international and non-course opportunities to enhance professional skills, competencies and career readiness
Participate in and lead recruitment events, information sessions, and orientations for prospective and new students
Enter, evaluate, and audit student data in Workday Student to ensure students are progressing through their academic programs in a timely manner and to certify completion of course and non-course requirements for graduation
Host office hours to assist students with academic and student-related inquires
Assist the Department Chair and Associate Department Chairs of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering with tasks, such as: Course scheduling, processing transfer credit requests, and gathering/archiving course and program assessment data
Primary point of contact regarding school policies and procedures from admission to graduation
Prepare advising communications to students regarding departmental and college regulations, as it relates to program requirements and the graduation process, and departmental and campus-wide events
Interpret, implement, and ensure compliance with university academic and administrative policies and procedures
Serve as departmental liaison for University-level offices, such as International Students and Scholar Services, Undergraduate Academics, Graduate Education, and the Registrar's Office
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in academic advising
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with ability to develop rapport with and positively influence a diverse audience
Ability to partner with leadership to develop strategies to achieve organizational goals
Strong project and time management skills
Ability to produce high-quality work on deadline while managing multiple projects, priorities and deadlines
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in engineering
Master's degree
Familiarity with civil, environmental and ocean engineering programs
Familiarity with Stevens academic programs
