Responsibilities

Lead and guide lower-level inspection staff
Coordinate work with Contractors
Schedule inspection staff
Review daily reports
Assist in activities that lead to new work, such as meeting with clients, writing proposals, and reviewing plans and specifications during the project pursuit phase
Perform daily field inspections and maintain inspection records
Participate in punch lists, testing, and commissioning
Track quality assurance progress
Provide input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers
Provide on the job training to new employees
Monitor conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties

Qualification

ODOT CertificationConstruction InspectionProject ManagementCommunication SkillsBasic Computations

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent + 8 years of related experience and or education
Valid driver's license is required

Preferred

15+ years of ODOT, other state DOT, or local agency construction inspection experience required; or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience
Ability to document any and all relevant events, issues and variances
Good active written and verbal communication with construction personnel and engineers
Ability to perform basic computations and calculations and review calculations that other inspectors complete
Under minimal direction, relies on extensive experience and independent judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Responsible for setting own project deadlines
Provides on the job training to new employees
Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties
Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records

Tracks quality assurance progress
Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers
Overnight travel within the state may be required
