General Business & Industry Supervisor - Bangor Plaza

Responsibilities
Direct facility activities, including staff training and administration, to ensure financial success and superior customer service through continuous process improvement
Manage all financial aspects, including annual budgeting, profit and loss analysis, and cost control. Ensure budget goals are met, monitor variances, and oversee inventories. Use financial systems (e.g., SAP) for management and reporting, and investigate all discrepancies
Engage with patrons to ensure high satisfaction, gather feedback, and resolve issues. Develop and execute annual marketing and promotional plans
Oversee facility maintenance, repairs, and sanitation to meet all standards. Manage preventive maintenance, ensure safety protocols are followed, and take immediate corrective action on deficiencies noted during inspections (HAZMAT, Sanitation, OSHA, etc.)
Prepare financial and operational reports for leadership. Manage audit responses, maintain contracts, and monitor contractor performance. Provide input for policy formulation
Stay current with industry trends to recommend improvements that enhance operations and customer satisfaction
Establishes objectives, planning, and priorities for accomplishment of workload either directly or through subordinate supervisors
Oversees daily operations and is physically present on the floor during peak operation periods when the facility manager is not on site. Coordinates work between the various functions
Provides advice, counsel, or instruction on work and administrative matters. Makes decisions on work problems presented by employees or supervisors
Ensures weekly labor schedules are prepared and ensures that labor is adjusted to fluctuations of revenue in a timely manner
Works to improve quality of work and devises strategies for cost and timesaving
Conducts meetings with employees on a regular basis to discuss new and novel techniques for increasing business and promoting industry
Manages personnel resources assigned to the facilities including effective workforce utilization and position management and resolving minor grievances and complaints
Monitors and approves or disapproves timekeeping and leave requests
Establishes performance standards, provides continuous feedback, and conducts annual performance reviews of staff. Issues or recommends employee recognition and awards
Addresses potential disciplinary and/or performance issues timely and takes appropriate, corrective action(s) as necessary
Interviews and recommends candidates for selection for hire, promotion, or reassignment
Ensures staff complete all required training and receive proper training to fulfill requirements of their positions
Identifies and provides employee development opportunities

Qualification
Required
Must have one of the following or a combination of both: 1 year of specialized experience in managing a restaurant, bar, recreation and retail activities, catering or mobile services
Ph.D. or equivalent doctor degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in Business Administration or related field
Demonstrated knowledge of management procedures and general business practices related to operational management of programs and the effective utilization of facilities and equipment in a Department of Defense (DOD) environment
Knowledge of business or hospitality principles, practices, and regulations gained from operational experience or education
Knowledge of the military environment, culture and protocol sufficient to present a polished demeanor in a high visibility position
Skill in applying management principles, concepts, and methodology to a variety of difficult and complex assignments to area of assignment, involving the full range of facilities and activities including customer service, operations and maintenance, marketing and publicity, personnel and financial management, improvements, sales, merchandise and equipment management
Skill in developing directives, instructions, and procedures regarding the administration of activities and utilization for facility resources
Skill in conducting surveys and audits to identify program deficiencies; determining impact of changes to the services provided the patron community and repairs to the facilities and equipment; or other corrective measures
Skill in effectively organizing and utilizing available community resources
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and other operating systems used in the program area
Ability to analyze and prepare clear, concise, and technically sound reports related to work within the Branch
Ability to perform the full range of supervisory duties
Ability to develop and effectively deliver presentations and/or training
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Must be able to work varied work schedules to include holidays, weekends, and evenings
Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license
Incumbent must pass all applicable records and background checks
Must satisfactorily complete a suitability background check (NACI) and obtain a security clearance when necessary for access to areas of responsibility
Responsibilities vary from sedentary for administrative tasks to long periods of standing, walking and some driving for operational tasks. Occasional lifting up to 45 pounds required
