Intern, Conservationist - Summer 2026

Responsibilities

Be trained in techniques and assist in projects related to the management and restoration of natural plant and animal communities
Assist in projects involving citizen science initiatives & data entry, tree and shrub removal, seed collection, planting materials, etc
Perform ecological management and grounds maintenance on Conservation property including, mowing; removing brush; picking litter; maintaining trails; and operating motor-driven equipment
Identify situations requiring repair, maintenance, or other corrective actions
Perform related work as required

Required

One (1) year of experience in the care and maintenance of natural area(s) and related facilities similar to a conservation property OR Completion of a two (2) year natural resources program may be substituted for the experience requirement
Heavy manual labor and outdoor walking on trails requiring physical strength and endurance required
Valid driver's license required
Must be able to perform heavy manual labor and must have the ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
Expected to work a high percentage of the time outdoors in all types of weather conditions at various times of day
Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred

Knowledge relative to native plant communities and associated wildlife preferred
