Principal Cyber Defense Analyst

Responsibilities
Design, develop, and optimize advanced security tools, systems, and policies to enhance network monitoring, data segmentation, access control, encryption, and secure data transfer, leveraging innovative technologies and best practices
Perform and sustain cybersecurity operations, focusing on managing, optimizing, and securing networks and enclaves through advanced security mechanisms and toolsets
Conduct vulnerability assessments and root cause analyses to identify security gaps, implement remediation strategies, and continuously enhance security tools, configurations, and documentation
Evaluate and refine system security configurations to align with and exceed modern IT security standards, including the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST 800-53 security controls
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions to complex technical challenges
Establish functional and technical specifications, define input/output parameters, and ensure comprehensive integration of systems or subsystems
Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, leveraging advanced tools and methodologies to ensure system reliability
Identify and implement opportunities within existing technologies to enhance efficiency, scalability, and performance
Assist in the assessment, maintenance, and reporting of system security configurations, ensuring alignment with security standards and best practices
Obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoD) 8140 Level II Certification within 6 months of the start date (required)
Travel up to 5% to support project requirements or collaboration with teams
Qualification
Required
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
Typically requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree and 3 years of relevant experience
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued secret security clearance
Experience in automation and scripting for system deployment (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash)
Experience with system hardening techniques and best practices to enhance security
Experience with Windows or Red Hat client server environments, including server replication methods and configuration
Experience with application installation, configuration, and deployment in multi-server environments
Obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoD) 8140 Level II Certification within 6 months of the start date (required)
Travel up to 5% to support project requirements or collaboration with teams
Preferred
Experience with Group Policy, cybersecurity best practices, and networking concepts
VMware products (e.g., VDI Horizon, ESXi) and Windows hardening techniques
Experience with DevOps tools (e.g., Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform) and scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python)
Familiarity with cloud computing architectures and security
